Schwinn High Timber Men's 26-Inch Mountain Bike

Schwinn High Timber Men's 26-Inch Mountain Bike

Not the Quality expected from Schwinn

Although the bike is a Schwinn and is fairly nice to look at, it has some serious issues. The first thing that I noticed about the bike just out of the box is how heavy it was and cumbersome it is to move. The next thing that I noticed was just how confusing and poorly organized the instruction manual was. In fact, there was no instruction manual! The bike comes with a small book full of random trouble shooting tips that may come in handy once you've assembled the bike and some other pages, but there are no clear assembly instructions. Once you do get it put together (based on logic and trial and error) the lack of quality components becomes quickly apparent. The gear shifts are a joke and jam up frequently. Not to mention just the other day I was riding down a hill and all of a sudden the handle bars came loose and nearly caused me to crash. The suspension is decent in front, but any time you go over a bump or curb the chains rattle loudly. Overall I am fairly disappointed with the bike and its components.

Great Bike for anyone who wants to get back on 2 wheels

I bought this bike for myself to get back into shape since at 50 I was a little out of shape.I chose this Schwinn High Timber because of the style which is perfect for someone like me with a bad back (no need to lean hunched over). The Bike arrived Friday afternoon it took less than 1/2 Hr to put together, the only delay was adjusting the front brake to get the wheel on and re-adjusting the brake for riding (loosen cable to release brake & tighten back after you install front tire ).The seat is a little hard but Im no teenager so I bought a seat pad to ease the hardness .After everything was checked over I took the bike down by the lake which has hills & winding paths . The Schwinn High Timber ran great, easy shifting and smooth ride. The bike does not come with a water bottle but I bought a Schwinn bottle & cage For $15 dollars at the store there are 2 allen screws on the frame to mount it with ease. I hope this review helps because there were none when I bought mine But this is a great bike for any age and Great Price

schwinn high timber

my husband wanted this bike and amazon was the cheapest he really likes this bike and it was fairly easy to put together

Schwinn Excursion Women's Hybrid Bike (700c Wheels)

Schwinn Excursion Women's Hybrid Bike (700c Wheels)

Schwinn

Bought this bike for my wife. The third bike that she has in less than three months. I finally found one that she likes. Very solid construction and only 13#. Full of features such as full fenders and rear rack.Easy, positive three speed shifting. She loves it.

Schwinn Excursion Women's Hybrid Bike (700cc Wheels)

Maybe there is something wrong with this bike only, and not the model in general. It is impossible to cycle up any gradient. I bought this bike for my girlfriend, and she simply cannot ride it - Maybe there is a fault with the rear wheel. The bike is heavy and cumbersome. I've tried riding this up several hills, and couldn't manage one revolution! It cost me $60.00 to have somebody tell me that the front wheel guard is too short / It's entirely the wrong size, and won't reach the centre of the front wheel - So the bike is also shipped with the wrong size parts. Ideally I could get a refund, but seeing as the boxes have been thrown away, that's now not possible....I simply didn't know we would have this problem. I purchased Schwinn because of their reputation. . . . . Maybe a Schwinn rep could arrange a trade!

What a great choice

My husband bought this bike for me to replace my beloved bike that was stolen. We bought a different bike made by La Jolla, but returned it after a week. I wanted something comfortable like a beach cruiser, but with a few gears....and something that doesn't look dorky. This bike fit the bill and was a good price too. I was able to attach a "tag along" bike to it with no problem so my 5 year old can bike along with me. There are tons of different accessories that can be added if desired. Well made but lightweight, this bike is a definite yes.

GMC Topkick Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike

GMC Topkick Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike

Great bike for most users

I purchased this bike because the price was great and it came with dual suspension and front/rear disc brakes. The only problem with the bike is that beginner tuners will have a hard time getting the brakes right as well as the gearing. I paid a shop to get it all right for me, the bike works perfect now. I've taken this bike on long distances on and off road, down the stairs, up hills. I rode this bike from Long Island to Manhattan with no problems, it's pretty light as well. This bike is the best bang for the buck. It's not no professional bike but it gets the job done. The only other problem with the bike is when your adding serious torque, the bike tends to flex in a way that the front derailleur kind of touches the chain. It's a tiny problem and can be easily overlooked. Also, GMC (or whoever made it) tends to keep the price resonable by adding outdated parts, like the shifter, etc.....that's not a problem for me. New things always cost lots of $$$. My cousin purchased a bike shop recommended bicycle for almost $300 (front suspension only, and V type brakes), I payed $229 for my topkick. Apparently this recommended bike is supposed to be better than the GMC topkick. Turns out that the GMC topkick is lighter than this recommended bike and rides smoother. Once again, I recommended this bike for everyone. Just remember to spend the extra $$$ to get a shop to tune it for you.

Excellent choice for the price

I've had the GMC Topkick for almost a month now, during which I have been using it daily (home-work); it has also been put to the test on a biking trail in a nearby state park. First of all, let me say this: the topkick is a beautiful bike. So if fancy looks is the number one factor for you, stop reading and just buy it. It looks rugged, serious, sporty but with a certain "class." Secondly, the bike is indeed amply endowed with disk brakes and full suspension, things one can find only in high-end models costing over $1,500. On the negative side, this is a heavy bike (did you think they simply "forgot" to mention its weight?). It does not compare to truly lightweight mountain bikes and, although for daily in-city use this is indeed minor, on the trail it can be problematic and make your life quite harder. This is not to say that the bike is unbearably heavy---it still is much lighter than any of my older bikes. Also, the bike comes with no "direct" assembly instructions. However, there are two manuals which more-or-less contain all the necessary instructions scattered among various chapters (e.g., in the how-to-change-a-tire chapter, how-to-install-the-brake chapter, etc.). I do not really consider myself a technically savvy person but I found a way to assemble it by peeking at these (somehow overly technical) instructions within 2 hours, so I guess it's not impossible. As far as the quality of the different parts (brakes, shifting, etc.) is concerned, I am not sure I can express an opinion, as I am no expert. Time will tell; so far so good though. In general I consider my purchase a good one: the bike looks great, does the job and will give you a fun, comfortable ride everywhere. It is not a substitute for a $2,000 bike, but it was never meant to be.

Great Value...Worth the Money!

GMC Topkick Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike Amazon came through again with the best price on the web. It was such a good deal that I bought two! With no sales tax and free two day "Prime" shipping, I figure that I saved $200 over store retail for the pair. Packing was about as good as one would expect. There were a couple of small nicks to the frame but a black Sharpie fixed them to where one does not notice. Other than that there was no damage. As other buyers have stated it is a tad heavy (38 lbs?), but that is a testament to its solid construction. The rims are somewhat narrow but I plan to ride more for pleasure than sport. For those two reasons I rated this bike a four out of five stars. If the manufacturer could change those two features it would be a solid five star mountain bike. I am 6'3" and the frame fits me fine when straddled (it measure 31" at the upper cross bar). I would have liked a higher handlebar height but I can live with it...Thank goodness I have long arms! I looked at a lot of bikes before making a final decision...All were considerably more expensive with the same basic features. If you plan to ride aggressive this may not be the bike for you...But for street and light off roading it is a real bargin at $229.95.

Good bike for the money

Let's put it this way: If you don't know how to tune dérailleurs and brakes, you'd better learn it now or shell out your dough for others to tune. Chances are, you probably need to tune everything. The bike is very easy to put together. I am a total newbie and it only took me 1.5 hour. However, it took me about a week to finally tune the front/rear dérailleurs and disc brake. Of course, I am a newbie and I am learning and tuning at the same time. It can get frustrating and you might not interested in going through the pain. However, when it's all said and done, I have learn and understood and comfortable in bike tuning. For those of you who does not want to DIY, get it to a bike shop. Certainly, if you are very familiar with tuning, usually it can be done in 1-2 hours. With that said, the quality of the bike is acceptable. The disc brake is functional and brake nicely. The rear dérailleur is good quality shimano part and easy to tune. The front dérailleur is kinda cheap and flimsy and I had a hard to tune it properly. The shifting, in general, louder than average and not very smooth. With tuning, I eliminated under shift, gear skipping, hesitation, and some cage rubbing. I even have to lube the dérailleur to make the spring return mechanism work properly. The brake cable could use some lubrication. To top these all off, the bike is about 40-50lbs and it is heavy. I weight 150+lb and this thing is almost 1/3 of me. However, the beefy weight does come with a benefit: The aluminum frame is very sturdy and strong. It will last a long time with proper maintenance. However, with that weight, I would not recommend taking it to the "mountain" perform stunt and get crazy. I will stick to the pavement. The suspension fork is functional and good. The rear suspension is very stiff and I don't feel it smooths out the ride that much. I am trying to save $$ here and quite frankly, I get what I paid for. This bike is not really good, but not bad at all. If you just need a bike to get around town and not into the whole mountain thing and don't mind the weight. By all mean, GET IT. I give it 3-4 STARS.

good bike for the price

This bike seems to be a pretty good buy. The only complaint that i have about it is that i bought it for my father who is very tall and the handle bars are very low and are not adjustable however i did find a handle bar stem riser made by delta along with a delta hi rise stem which raised the handle bars up perfectly and the cables were all long enough so i didn't have to replace those either. It came with just minor assembly required and I only had to make minor adjustments to the brake cables. I read a couple of the other reviews that had said their were scratches on the frame from shipping when they recieved them mine also had a couple of pretty good scratches on the frame too they could definately package it a little better. The fact that i had to buy extra parts to raise the handle bars and the scratches it recieved in shipping are the only two reasons i gave it a 4 star rating instead of a 5. My dad loves it now that the handle bars are higher and rides it every day. I would recommend this bike to anyone who wants an above department store level mountain bike but doesn't really want to or need to pay the big $$$$ for an overpriced specialty store bike.

Sunlite Cloud Nine Gel Bicycle Seat Cover, for Cruiser or Exercise Bikes

Sunlite Cloud Nine Gel Bicycle Seat Cover, for Cruiser or Exercise Bikes

very pleased

What a difference this seat makes! From completely uncomfortable to comfort. So much better than before...For really long rides like an hour could use even more gel I think. I may consider trying the next one up with even more gel.

Fits the Confidence Foldable Stow Away Bike

A very comfy seat. I bought this to go with the Confidence Foldable Stow Away Bike, and it fit perfectly.

Fits well, good padding

I ordered this for our exercise bike since I'm skinny and have no natural padding. It fit wonderfully, and there is enough padding to make exercising doable. Shipping, as always, was fast.

Perfect Item!

I received the Pyramid Pro Gel Seat Cruiser Cover in a timely manner. The cover fits perfect on my stationary bike. Great fit and perfect comfort. I would recommend this item to others!

Bell Key 'N Go Steel Cable Padlock for Bike

Bell Key 'N Go Steel Cable Padlock for Bike

Bell Key 'N Go Steel Cable Padlock for Bike

While this obviously is a very well known brand and is a quality product Bell has failed to provide a well made lock it seems the shakle is thin and easily cut with a bolt cutter or some other tool however the body of the lock is hardened steel case which stands up to punnishment like dropping etc, I replaced this lock with a better quality lock that I know I can trust, the steel cable is very good

Works For What We Need

We were looking for a relatively fair priced bike lock that would keep our bikes protected while we were away from them. Decided on purchasing this lock and so far we have not been disappointed. The chain is thin, but not so thin it looks like it could snap. The lock feels fairly heavy and sturdy. As with every lock and chain, it typically only keeps the honest thieves away. If someone wants to get your bike with this lock on it, I'm sure they will.

Great Value

This chain and lock are a great value for what you get. This I feel would stop most thieves from taking my cheap bike, as it is not worth the trouble.

I love it.

I had no idea what type of lock to buy for my bike. Reading a ton of Amazon.com reviews, I came to the conclusion that if anyone wants your bike that bad, they'll find a way to bust your lock. I felt a little more confident with this one because I read a lot of reviews that mentioned someone taking a hammer to the locks with a combanation and getting away with their bikes. Hopefully this one will keep my bike safe. I feel good about it. It is a heavy one though so if that is a concern you may want to look for another one. This one works for me though. I would recommend this to anyone.

Good length

Good lock, although the lock itself feels flimsy because of the plastic cover. The cable is a good length. I use it to secure two bikes to a bike rack and am able to go through the body and front rims of both.

Planet Bike 1200 1.5-Watt & Blinky 3 Bicycle Light Set

Planet Bike 1200 1.5-Watt & Blinky 3 Bicycle Light Set

Lights for bikes

I bought 3 sets of these for my grand kids. They were easy to install and all worked great.

Falls apart within weeks!

I'm a fan of planet bike products but not this one! The rear light fell off the clamp that attaches it to the post the second time out. The front light doesn't blink so it goes through batteries faster. I had to change the batteries while out one night. I hadn't screwed the cover on tight enough. It fell off and broke in pieces. And I bought it a month ago!!!!!

Bottom of the barrel

The 3-LED taillight is good. With blink and steady modes it gets the job done. The headlight is not an LED, and is rather dim even with fresh batteries. As other reviewers have said, the battery life is poor. Riding in near darkness is the only time you will even see the light emitted by the headlight, and if that's the case it obviously isn't emitting enough light to help you stay safe. Next time, I'm going to spend the extra $5 and get an LED headlight.

Reiterating

Great back light. In the front the batteries die too quickly. Worth the money but you may do better to spend a little more. You will save it in the long run on batteries--they are so expensive!

perfect,if you don"t go out in the traffic.

Great little lights. But they are better for younger people.I will need stronger lights next time.

Planet Bike 1007-3 Comp Floor pump with Love Handle (More Durable than OId Comp)

Planet Bike 1007-3 Comp Floor pump with Love Handle (More Durable than OId Comp)

inexpensive pump that does the job

This floor pump works as it should. The nozzle seals onto the tire valve with a flick of a lever. You can pre-set the desired air pressure on the pressure dial/gauge so you can easily monitor the progress of inflating. The ergonomically-designed love handles prevent stress on the wrists. Within minutes my tires are properly inflated and I'm ready to roll. Will accomodate Presta and schrader tire valves (but there's no attachment for inflating a basketball). I can't predict this pump will last for a decade, but I'm very pleased that it accomplishes a simple task very well.

Solid Pump at a Great Price

Based on the price I paid I expected a product of basic quality. However, I am surprised by the quality of the design and it seems to be solidly built. The adjustable arrow on the air pressure indicator is a nice feature as it keeps me from forgetting what my max pressure is and blowing up the tube. I'm no expert on bike pumps (first one I've owned) but it does the job and is well constructed - so I would strongly reccomend it to anyone.

Racor PSB-2L Pro Double Folding Bike Rack

Racor PSB-2L Pro Double Folding Bike Rack

Good Rack

To be honest I had my doubts this would hold up 2 mountain bikes (although both aluminum) but it is quite sturdy. The third time putting the bikes on the rack though, the rubber coating ripped off of one of the supports, I'm going to have to wrap tape around it to keep it from coming all the way off. I'm sure I should have lifted the bike higher instead of just pulling the bike off and it may not have happened. Also be sure to pre-drill for the mounting screws as they are fatties. I stripped one pretty good trying to skip that step. All in all an good solution for storing your bikes up and out of the way.

Racor Dual Bike Rack

Great bike rack. Fits two mt. bikes just fine side by side...and easy to install.

Great for storing bikes with no racks

I would give this storage system 5 stars if our bikes would fit on it with the racks we have attached. Our rear racks are for holding panniers or baby seat. Only one bike will fit on this product if you have a bike with rear rack. I like that there is just enough room to store helmets on the unit behind the bikes.

Just what i needed

Rack works great. I had a hard time getting the screws into the stud because I didn't have a posidrive screw driver. so i mangled the screws a little getting them in. The rubber coating on the arms is fragile too. I managed to damage it just with the weight of the bikes so i put some electricians tape over it to keep it from self-destructing. Other than that i love it. I put it up the wall enough to fit stuff under the bikes but not have to lift it too far to get the bike down. I'd recommend this to a friend but with reservations because of its minor failings.

Much needed bike rack working out fine

My husband and I both have bikes and were looking for an easy way to store them on our back porch. My husband found this one and we have been happy with it. The bikes are easy to get on and off, and the rack keeps the bike up off the porch. Only down side is the protective coating cracked and fell off within a few days. I don't think this hurts the bikes; I just didn't know why it wasn't made stronger. Overall, happy with this purchase.

Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike

Razor MX350 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike

worst money i ever spent

when i bought this motor bike i thought it was o.k.but suddenly the battery started to drop suddenly.later i found out that the rever on the electric bike had broken off.this electric motorbike bike was the worst money i ever spent .

review update: JUNK

Customer service wouldnt warranty a bad rim for us, so I had to buy one...which was out of stock. So was every other part for it. I get the rim with tire, and THAT TOO bends the first day. I was watching my son on it, he's inder the weight limit and never hit anything on it. Next, the charger stopped operating. I'm an industrial electrician (same schooling as construction but more intense in motors and controls) so I checked it out. The battery wouldnt hold a charge and the charger doesnt output anything. so, its wheelless and in the corner of the garage. Total run time: 5 hours.

Important: Change in suspension

The MX350 that we bought in 2006 was outstanding. However, the one that we just bought doesn't have the flexible rear suspension that the earlier models had, which makes for a miserable rough ride for my child. This was a big mistake on behalf of Razor. Also, the travel on the throttle is essentially gone, it's now on/off, rather than adjustable speed. It's a shame that they removed these features and the bike isn't anything like it once was when it was in it's hayday.

the greatest electric bike

we've had this bike for 2 years and the only part that we needed replaced was the battery charger and that was our fault. The battery lasts for a good 10 miles and this thing is sturdy. My 6 year old can't destroy it and that's a biggie......

Fun Bike, Weak Motor

I bought an MX500 for my 9 year old son, and I bought this bike for my 7 year old. While the MX500 was strong enough to take my older son up the grassy hills of my lawn, the MX350 was too weak to take even my 7 year old son up those same hills. He still loves the bike and loves to ride it up and down the driveway and down to the cul de sac, but I felt I should have gotten the bigger bike even for my smaller son. The battery has not given us any problems even after a year.

Planet Bike BRT Strap Multi-Use LED Bicycle Safety Light

Planet Bike BRT Strap Multi-Use LED Bicycle Safety Light

7" of bright glowing or blinking red -- great design -- very useful

I was pleasantly surprised upon receiving my BRT Strap. I didn't realize nearly the whole strap, nearly all of the yellow surface you see in the picture (7" x 13/16"), glows or blinks bright red -- so it IS a taillight. It works great. It's lightweight, easy to use and comfortable, plus fits in my hip-pack nicely. I use it as a leg-light (above my left calf) for biking or late afternoon inline skating. Having a light move as you pedal, and highlight the left edge of your bike provides a major safety advantage. I highly recommend the BRT Strap. I may be buying more. It should make a nice gift item. Be aware that the BRT Strap won't work until you pull a little plastic tab from the edge of the battery compartment that protects the battery from discharge before customer use. A few more nighttime bicycle safety recommendations: Don't miss the Planet Bike Sport Spot 4 LED Bicycle Light with Head, and Handlebar Mounts and Planet Bike Blinky "3H" 3-Led Rear Bicycle Light with Self Leveling Helmet Mount as a combo to mount on your helmet. It's fantastic to be able to point a light at drivers just by looking at them, plus the tail light swings and thus sort of flashes without using the flash mode. These lights are very light weight. I hardly know I have them mounted on my helmet. Most people who see me with them on my helmet think they're great. These two should be sold as a combo since the headlight takes three batteries, and the rear light takes one, so you can easily recharge four NiMH batteries at a time. If you bike much at night, do yourself a favor and get all three, the BRT Strap, the Sport Spot, and Blinky "3H". I also strongly recommend a bright safety vest, jersey, or jacket for day and night biking. A good one can provide a dramatic reduction in scary incidents -- people turning in front of you or coming by too close. I try hard to always use one -- it makes an amazing difference -- people seem to have an automatic reflex to be much more cautious and wait for me to pass when they see my safety vest.

nice little addition to any bike rider

The Planet Bike BRT Strap Multi-Use LED Bicycle Safety Light is a nice little addition to any night bike rider. The Light itself seems rather weak as it isn't particularly bright and I'd guess it's only visible from about 300 (or less) yards or so. It is a light red, operates on what seems a watch battery. Plastic hook doesn't seem too strong. The reflectivity of the yellow part might be better, it claims to be visible from about 2000 feet but I have yet to test it with someone's car Lights. It won't hurt to have this on a leg or arm as it is cheap to buy. Made in China. I went riding and it kept falling down my pants, so be sure to keep checking its there over time. I use it on my right leg for side visibilty when cars approach the road. It's good for that. Cross Training Reflective Leg bands (pair) -Lime Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash Tail Light GLoWEAR Class 2 Economy Vest, Lime, 2XL/3XL #21027 / 8210HL

Planet Bike BRT strap mulit-use LED Bicycle safety light

Love this thing. It straps to almost anything and INCREASES YOUR VISIBILITY TREMENDOUSLY at night/dusk. The whole yellow area is luminous when it's on OR it flashes/strobes constantly. It is light weight and if you drop it, it won't break like other clip-on lights. No bicyclist, skateboarder, motorcyclist, jogger, dog, inliner etc. should be without one. It reflects for daytime use or if the battery runs out. As they say in Seattle - 'get lit' for safety. - Charlie Samuels, New York City

these don't work!!!

I ordered one of these and it did not work-either the bulb or the battery was bad. There was no light. I sent it back and got a replacement-with the same problem! No light! I wouldn't order this product...seems like they may just be very poorly made.

Marcy Recumbent Magnetic Bike

Marcy Recumbent Magnetic Bike

recumbent bike

the bike works very well it is much better for my legs than running.

A good product for the price

This recumbent bike serves my needs very nicely. I am in physical therapy after back surgery and needed a way to exercise. But I didn't want to buy a high-priced bike that I may end up not using after awhile. This bike is well made, sturdy, the seat is comfortable, and I think it will last for years. I'm not sure I would recommend it for a large man, but other than that it's a great bike. I looked at a couple of recumbent bikes in the same price range at Sears today and the Marcy bike is far better! And as usual I have always had good service and on-time delivery from Amazon.

just ok

it was a little frustrating putting it together, ok quality,if you are looking for something that will do the work and don't want to spend a lot.

A good product for a good price

I really like this bike. I like that it shows me how fast I'm going, calories spent, distance, and time. It runs smoothly and makes very little noise. It was sort of easy to put together. The only thing I don't like about the Marcy is that the backrest jiggles, and I can't seem to tighten it up, but that could be my fault. That jiggling doesn't affect the bike's performance at all. It showed up at my door almost instantly! I am a Prime member so I get orders within 2 days, but this recumbent bike was here in 1 and 1/2 days.

Disappointed

I suppose you get what you pay for. It's pretty easy to put together, I did it by myself, only having trouble with the resistance cable. The tools that are supposed to be included were not. I read in another review and can confirm that no matter what bolts you tighten or how much you tighten the seat down when you really start pedaling hard the seat shakes and makes noise. The calorie display is way off (which isn't really a big deal to me.) I bought this so I could alternate my running (I run everyday) but I find myself still running the majority of the time. My 12 year old son really likes it though.

Planet Bike Blinky "7" 7-Led Rear Bicycle Light

Planet Bike Blinky "7" 7-Led Rear Bicycle Light

Good light for the money

This light is easy to attach and shines brightly, both to the rear and to the sides. It would have received five stars had it not been for the choice of batteries. Although Planet isn't the only manufacturer to do this, trying to power 7 LEDs on two AAA batteries is just plain silly.

Nice and Bright !

This light is great for riding around town and making sure drivers can see you from behind. Bright and "Blinky"! I recommend it highly.

Switch difficult

Light is OK, but it is difficult to turn it on because it doesn't have a switch. Instead you have to push hard on the bottom of the light in just the right place.

Great little light!

No need to spend more. This little light can keep up with those twice it's price. VERY visible for 180 degrees.

Even the Police said nice light

I was riding my road bike at night coming home from the mountains and I pulled up at the light and a cop car did the same about 10 secs after me. The cop says, "Nice light. Glad you're following the rules"....Nuff' said

Planet Bike 3044 Blaze 1 Watt LED Headlight

Planet Bike 3044 Blaze 1 Watt LED Headlight

all good

This is the first headlight I have ever bought or used. I rode on a totally dark bike trail (paved) with it, and was able to see adequately although I chose to ride slower than I would have in the daylight. I think that this light is good for my type of riding, i.e. not terribly extreme. I think it is a good value for the $$. It's excellent as a road light, for drivers to see me riding. The three settings are useful, low steady, high steady, and blinking. It's super easy to clip on and off its' included mount.

Good light and Good Mount (ignore contrary reviews)

I have both the one-watt Blaze and the 5-LED Beamer lights on my bike (note that I am comparing the one-watt Blaze, not the half-watt Blaze). I use the Blaze for constant-on illumination (to see) and the Beamer as a blinker (to be seen). First of all, there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THE MOUNT (which is the same for both lights). Please ignore other reviews to the contrary, which were posted by people who are apparently unable to read an instruction sheet. The mounting strap is ADJUSTABLE. It will accommodate very small handlebars, as well as massively oversized handlebars. If you turn the mounting bracket over and examine the underside, you will see that the mounting strap has ratchet-teeth. There is a keep directly beneath the mount which holds the strap to the desired length. If the mount is too loose, push the strap towards the mount to ratchet it to a smaller size. If the mount is too tight, use a small screwdriver to hold the keep up as you let the strap out. The mount may be further adjusted by turning the set-screw (by turning the cam-lever). Don't make it too tight, or it will be hard to adjust vertically. The mount is very secure, yet the lights are easily removed (and can easily double as a flashlight when needed - and you could easily hold it in your teeth for roadside repairs). Photos of both the Blaze and the Beamer look rather similar - I wondered if they used the same plastic housing. But the Blaze is substantially larger than the Beamer (in both length and diameter, even thought they both use the same size (AA) batteries). As I said before, the mount is the same. In blinking mode, the Beamer is actually brighter (overall) than the Blaze. This is because the Blaze (wisely) does not flash at full-intensity all of the time (otherwise you would absolutely blind passing motorists). The Blaze mostly flashes at low-intensity, but every sixth or seventh flash is at high-intensity. The Beamer flashes at maximum intensity with each flash, which is brighter than the Blaze for most flashes, but not as bright as the occasional max-flash of the Blaze. Overall, the Beamer is brighter in flash-mode, although I am not sure it is better. But it is sufficient for my needs. Many bike lights are designed like flashlights, where the beam is really visible only from the front - someone viewing from the side would not see any light from the bulb itself (only the things that the bulb illuminated). Both the Blaze and the Beamer have lens bezels which fully expose the bulb to aspect view, giving these lights about 210-degrees of visibility. In steady-on mode, there is really no comparison in lighting intensity. The Blaze has a high and low mode for steady-on, while the Beamer has only one steady-on mode. My comparison is only using the Blaze in high-mode. The Blaze's intensity is why I give it five stars (I gave the Beamer only four stars because it was lacking in comparison). The Beamer's steady-on mode is rather hazy and unfocused. The five-bulb light source can be seen in the uneven lighting it produces. The Blaze (which has a single bulb) produces a much whiter and brighter light which is highly uniform. I'm not sure I would recommend the Blaze for absolute pitch-dark riding over difficult surfaces (such as singletrack wilderness and mountain trails), but it is perfectly sufficient for fill-lighting in urban commutes, with occasional very-dark spots. The Beamer is sufficient only for urban fill-lighting - I would not want to use this light in very dark conditions. If I found myself riding an extended bit of pitch-dark road, I would reconfigure my lights to use the Blaze as a distance light and the Beamer as a close-in light. Some posters complain that NiMh rechargeable batteries are inferior to alkaline. I am not able to discern any difference in the Blaze. NiMh batteries are 1.2 volts, whereas ordinary batteries are 1.5 volts. However, it is not really voltage, but milliamp-hours (mAh) which determine a battery's power potential. The Energizer e2 MiMh batteries can be charged to 2,450 mAh (milliamp-hours), while fresh Energizer Alkaline batteries are rated at 2,850 mAh.. So the difference in power is about 8.75%. I cannot perceive this difference. However, a freshly-charged MiMh battery will ALWAYS out-shine a somewhat-discharged (but still relatively new) alkaline battery. There is a temptation to use disposable alkaline batteries until they are absolutely worthless - thereby depriving ourselves of good lighting (few people toss out batteries because they are only at 91% power - the point at which fresh NiMh batteries exceed their 8.75% discharged alkaline counterparts). It is better, IMO, to have a slightly inferior battery that I can recharge each evening, so I always have an absolutely fresh battery, rather than a disposable battery that may be slightly brighter for the first hour or two, but soon looses ground to a freshly charged NiMh battery.

A Great Light

This is a great light for the price but possibly more suited to the recreational rider such as myself. It has three modes low high and flash although the difference between the low and high settings is not great. You will need a rubber strip inside the bracket to prevent it from moving this is not supplied at least there was none with mine. I found the fitting of the bracket somewhat difficult it consists of a ribbed strap which is pulled through a slot and locks into place but it would not lock on the last two ridges, I assume that was because my handlebars are a small diameter but, with the use of a rubber strip providing an increase in diameter and a good grip it was much easier, it can also be tilted without becoming loose. The light is quick and easy to remove for security. The bracket can only be fitted facing in one direction as the light only slides on in one direction, that seems an obvious comment but it is easy to get wrong when you're fitting the bracket without the light attached. It was delivered on time and well packaged. I considered 4 stars because of the bracket fitting problems but those may be specific to my bike and were solved with the rubber strip plus fitting the bracket is probably a one off for most people.

Great light

Light is exactly as described. Works well, easy to place on bike handle bars. Thanks!

Great light for very little money.

I am the type of person who reads the reviews before buying something. I read many reviews on several bike lights. I knew what I wanted to spend and started reading about the lights in my price range. Many of the reviews of this light complained about the way it attaches to the handle bars. I found that this was not a problem. This may be because my Cannondale has thicker handle bars than some of the bikes in the reviews. I am not sure, but it fit easily and securely. The other complaint was about the strength of the light. Most reviews claimed that you would not be able to see very well on a dark trail, but that it was sufficient in a lit city. This is not really the case. I bought two and mounted them easily on my bike. I ride on dark trails at night and have found that even when riding fast I can see really well. This is true even with only one turned on, though I prefer both on at the same time. They don't light the trail like my Honda CRV, but it is plenty bright. Once while riding through the city I had the lights on strobe so that cars will notice my presence better. They are pretty bright and really show up in the reflective surface of street and stop signs. Two motorcyclists riding in front of me saw this strobe effect and pulled over, only to realize that I wasn't a cop. They were probably drunk, but that is still pretty bright. I am glad I chose this light. The battery life is also great, especially with rechargeable batteries. As for the people out there bashing this light, yeah it probably isn't as powerful as one of those $300, $400, or $500 bike lights. However, this light was $32 and more than does the job. If you are looking for car or truck headlight performance, you are not going to get that with a $32 1 watt LED. If you want a very good and reliable bike light for riding at night in and out of the city, this light is gives great bang for the buck! Hope this helps!

RAD Cycle Products Ceiling Mount Bike Hoist - Bicycle Hoists

RAD Cycle Products Ceiling Mount Bike Hoist - Bicycle Hoists

RAD Cycle hoist

The RAD Cycle Hoist is a decent product for a great price. Quality of construction is average, but for my use it is adequate. The RAD Cycle hoist allowed me to gain valuable garage space. Compared to my old wall mount bicycle storage hooks, the RAD Cycle Hoist is much easier to use. No more back-breaking lifting my bicycles over my head while I try to hook a tire. I would definitely recommend the RAD Cycle Hoist.

Very useful

We bought 4 bike hoists and they were easy to install and work exactly as you'd expect. The bikes are way up in the rafters of our storage shed and leave plenty of walking room underneath. Highly recommended - as long as you have fairly high ceilings to accommodate them.

Good for the price

Pros: save the space from garage. Cons: It took time to install, Thread is not good.

Good product

This product works great for my bike and I also bought one for the bike trailer. I found the ceiling studs to mount the device. Unfortunately, the screws that came with the kit were not long enough when I mounted it directly into the ceiling. I had to get longer screws at the hardward store. It is a good value for the inexpensive price.

Excellent value!

I purchased four of these hoists for a small adult road bike, a large adult mountain bike, a small adult mountain bike, and a child's bike. They easily lift and store all sizes of our bikes. Even my 10-year old can get his bike up and down using the hoist. They have a great locking mechanism so you don't have to tied the rope down to secure the bike in the up position, and you can use it to securely "hold" the bike on the way up or down if you need to. The rope seems a bit skimpy, but as other reviewers said, can be easily replaced if it starts to fray. Phenomenal value at $14.95.

Mongoose Amplifier Boy's 16-Inch Bike

Mongoose Amplifier Boy's 16-Inch Bike

Great bike

My son loves this bike! It wasn't the easiest to put together though. The directions were pretty hard to understand. But it's worth it when I see the look on my 4 yr old's face.

great bike!

I bought this bike as a present for my 5 years old son. He started riding it right away. Easy to assemble, good quality, easy to ride. Down side- too heavy for him to carry, you will have to help to bring it in and out of house

Great Purchase!

We got this bike for our son's 3rd birthday. It was very easy to assemble and is quite sturdy. He is tall for his age so we wanted a bike that would last him for a while but also be something he could ride right now. At the lowest seat position his feet just touch the pedals and he wasn't used to coaster brakes but with just a little practice he is able to cruise around on it without problem. We are very pleased with our purchase.

Very Poor Quality

I'm not a person who bashes products. Read my other reviews. I'm fair. My wife purchased this bike for our child, based on positive reviews she found on the web. I think it is only fair that this negative review be out there for everyone to see in order to make an intelligent decision. Let me list the items I've found SO FAR, indicating the extremely poor quality of this model (Amplifier), and possibly the brand (Mongoose): 1) The handlebars were welded crooked on the stem. When I mounted the handlebars, and lined up them up with the front wheel, the misaligned stem was obvious. There are no adjustments; this is simply poor alignment during welding. 2) The front wheel, which came assembled, but not mounted on the frame, grinds terribly. Before I opened it up, it would not even spin twice before grinding to a halt. I pulled the axle apart and found the cone nuts too tight against bearings with lots of play, and very little grease. I was able to improve it a bit, but not much. 3) The rear wheel has the same problem as the front wheel, but also exhibits about 1/2" of runout. For those of you not familiar with the term, runout refers to how much the wheel wobbles back and forth, viewed edge-on, as it turns. This wheel has so much runout that the bike is unusable with the rear brake. The rear brake cannot be adjusted such that one side or the other is not hit by the wheel as it wobbles. I disassembled the rear wheel to see if I could fix it. I found a cone nut which was not symmetrical, but the runout is caused by something else which I cannot find or fix. The bike simply needs a new rear wheel, right out of the box. 4) Pedal friction. I don't think the pedals have any bearings in them at all. It feels like they have plastic bushings and that's all. You can turn them, but not spin them AT ALL. 5) Stripped screws. At least three of the philips head screws on the bike were stripped, presumably from over-torquing. I feel really bad for my son, as this was a birthday gift for him. He got on the bike, and tried to ride it down the driveway. The wheels and pedals have so much friction that he gave up, 1/2 way down the drive. This was after I had tried reducing the friction in the wheel bearings. If I could give the bike zero stars, I would. Please consider this carefully before buying this bike, and possibly any bike from Mongoose. This Chinese-made product is very poor quality.

Average Bike

Bike looks nice, rugged, and a good beginner bike. The bike arrived with a broken reflector bracket. It was easy to put together, and the price that I paid for it was well below other more expensive bikes with fewer features. After opening the box, the fumes from the bike were pretty bad with greasy parts, as is most stuff from China. Nice seat that adjust easily. Tires have deep tread, but with the mongoose name as the tread. Handbrake needs adjusting, otherwise, the pads will always rub on the rim making your kid work harder. The training wheels are basically worthless. The brackets holding the training wheels bent after a few months use by my 4 year old. I had to buy new training wheels. Stickers peel off, and I'm still trying to figure out the need/purpose for the trick tubes that screw onto the front fork since this bike is for small kids.

Transformer Optimus Prime 16-Inch Kids' Bike

Transformer Optimus Prime 16-Inch Kids' Bike

Nice bike

My son loves Optimus Prime so was very happy to receive this bike for his 4th birthday. But he is not used to the brakes (back pedalling) on the bike so still a challenge...he's afraid of falling off so haven't been on it long enough to really rate it. As of now, he prefers his tricycle. We need to practice a little more on the bike. It is quite heavy so we have to help him off and on. Overall, the bike seems very sturdy.

Good bike but...

After chunking some cheaper bikes I noticed one bike made by Kent lasted over three years of heat and rain. This is one sweet looking bike and under all the frills is one tough looking bike. One thing is it is heavy and so it is slower than other bikes we own.

A bike your kid will like but limited quality for the price

My 5 year old son likes his new bike because it is a Transformer bike. However, he does get frustrated by it's weight sometimes, especially trying to go up an incline. And I get frustrated because his seat is constantly crooked, and I can't seem to tighten it enough to make that stop happening. All in all, I would say buy this bike if your kid is really into Transformers, but otherwise you are probably better off with something a bit better built.

Not bad but not good either

My 3 year old son loves this bike - Mainly because it's his first bike and it has Optimus Prime on it. That's the good part. The bad part - this bike is cheap. Some parts broke before my son even rode it. I took them off and he never knew. So, for learners this bike is ok, but if your kid rides a lot get something better.

Nice looking bike, but abit heavy

The kids like this bike but the training wheels are not made that good and wore out very quickly. The bike is also very heavy for a 16" bike and my son had to use his older brothers old 16" while learning how to ride it without the training wheels. A lighter bike is just easier to handle from him. I wish they made bikes more practical little kids these days.....

Van Dessel Kermis Ultegra 10 Pro Road Bike

Van Dessel Kermis Ultegra 10 Pro Road Bike

van dessel road bike

i have been riding since 1973. i bought a van dessel 2 years ago on a former national team members recomendation. i was so impressed i now own two, and am looking to buy a track bike also. i am over 200 lbs and find the van dessel stiff for sprints and climbs, it tracks like it is on rails, and is not real harsh as i just did a century in vt. on my van dessel. best of all is the price, and an owner who stands behind the products that he also races. van dessel is a great bike and company. you will not be disappointed riding one... :)

Kermis- take me away

The Kermis is bad-to-the-bone fast. This is not a bike for the average 'fred'. The Kermis is super stiff and fast and handles high and tight. There is an element of stability on climbis & descents too, as the bike is a flat-out roadster. I'm thinking of naming my first pet or kid Kermis in hommage to this great road machine!

Excellent all around bike, great for the money!

The Van Dessel Kermis is easily one of the best, if not the best bike in this price range. Its weight along with its stiffness and price easily makes it one of the best bikes you can buy. I have ridden cannondales and treks, and this outperforms them both. Kudos to Van Dessel for making such an excellent bike! If you don't trust me, read the review in Bicycling magazine for more details, even they gave it an extremly positive review!

Great road bike!

I have the older model of the Van Dessel road bike and I love it! It's very light, it handles well, and it's still comfortable after 4+ hours in the saddle. It's also kind of fun to have a bike that's different from all the treks and bianchis out there!

Awesome racing bike

I have raced and trained on this bike for over a year and it has been great. Very responsive and stiff, yet still comfortable over the longer rides. It is speced very nicely while still being affordable, and has exceeded my expectations for a bike in that price range.

GMC Yukon Mountain Bike

GMC Yukon Mountain Bike

Nice bike for a kid but disappointing

The bike frame was welded together wrong! The front wheel could not be put on the bike because the arms were not aligned. How can they make a bike so obviously defective and try to sell it? IF the bike had been correctly manufactured, it would have been the perfect bike for my 13 year old son. The quality of the bike itself was OK, a few things probably should have been a bit more quality, like the pedals, they were plastic, not good for $169. I'd say if you are a serious biker, this is not the bike for you. If you ride a bike for lesiure or family time, it would be fine. Buying through Amazon was great, I was able to return the bike, free shipping, and was credited back the $169. I love buying from Amazon, they make it so easy for you, if your purchase doesn't work out. So don't tear the box up until you know the bike is a keeper!

Only thing good about this bike is the price...

Like other reviewers have pointed out the brakes on this thing are flimsy and its only a matter of time before the fail to work properly. Shipping was free and it looked that way when I received the bike. Shipping was so bad my rear rim was so bent it would not spin. Also the front forks/shock system was so badly put together I had to take it to the local bike shop and have them redo it. When riding the gears would automatically change. I'm sorry to say I do not recoomend this bike. Take your money and invest it into a better bike. I wish I had :( P.S One good thing about this bike is it has a sturdy aluminum frame. Thats about it.

Could be better

Amazon did their job quite well, it is GMC who did not perform so great. The bike arrived well ahead of schedule, however, the bike is not very well built. The frame is solid, the brakes and gears are a bit cheap, and they gave me a different seat than what was pictured(it is a big old granny seat). If you were to put new brakes and maybe a new gear set on this bike it would be about a 400 dollar bike. So it is overall a project bike for me, otherwise a great starter bike for someone who does not ride often.

Good looking bike, that's all.

Worst packaging ever. There isn't any type of protection between components. The frame and tires are tied up each other with plastic ties, that's all. I would assume that they would at least put some foam protection between the tires and frame, and around the frame. There was not one single page of instruction about how to assemble it. You don't have to be a genius nor is it too hard to figure out but I wasn't sure about few small things and it would be great if I had a choice to look them up. The worst part is that the bike requires assembly and there was not one single disposable tool to do the job. I mean come on, even the $25 coffee maker comes with some type of tool to assemble it, they just assume you should have the tools. Forget having the tools, there is nothing to tell you what type and size of tool you need, so you can't go and get anything from your local home depot, you will have to try and find out what fits. The first thing I noticed was the one of the shifters was broken. It's made of really cheap plastic so no wonder it didn't make it the infamous UPS handling. But let's not blame UPS, if it was packaged properly, nothing would have happened. Here is the funny part; the handle bars were assembled upside down. I attached it to the frame but it looked funny then I turned it the other way around to find out, it was assembled wrong. I have no comment, you be the judge of that. Overall, the bike looks good, with fancy painting and labels, although few labels were not attached completely. Unfortunately I cannot say anything about the performance since couldn't make it to road. I couldn't try but the seat doesn't seem comfortable. I should say it seems "OK" bike for people who intend to use it for joy rides once a week. However, I have to inform you that it is made of cheap materials, but then, you get what you pay for. I read bad reviews about Kent who seems to be the manufacturer and/or distributor of this bike. I agree with them and I chose not to buy anything from them again. This was my first purchase for a bike and it went surprisingly disappointing. It's very disappointing when you wait for something impatiently and then find out you have to return it, search again for new one, wait another week or so, etc... Maybe buying a bike online wasn't such a great idea but I thank you Amazon for making returns painless for us.

Yukon Bicycle

The bicycle was purchased as a Christmas gift for my Godchild. I found the bicycle, itself, to be everything it was advertised. In fact, my Godchild's father so taken, I think I will have to him his own. Great price. Fast delivery (even during the Christmas rush).

Iron Horse Triumph 3.0 Men's Road Bike

Iron Horse Triumph 3.0 Men's Road Bike

Good Bike, Great Price

This bike deserves 5 stars not because it is an awesome road bike; it deserves 5 stars because it is a good road bike at an awesome price. I got it at around $430 and it has been worth every penny. If you are looking to get in to road biking and want an overall good bike (quality parts, light-weight, great look) this is the one for you. Expect to get an old (5-10 years) bike of similar quality for a comparable price. Just don't forget to get clipless shoes if you don't already have a pair, as it comes standard with clipless pedals.

Great bang for the buck

This is a great buy if you can get it for about $450 like I did. The fork is part carbon, part alum. Overall the manuals are vague and are of no help. The bike came almost fully assembled. Just put the front wheel in, attach the front brake cable, put the handle bar in, adjust the seat and screw in the pedals and you're good to go. Assembly should take no more than an hour for a novice. Overall you'll find this bike is a lot lighter for bikes that cost about the same. I thought Iron Horse only specialized in mountain bikes...but their road bikes are good too. Strong frame just like their mountain bikes.

Radio Flyer Classic Red 10-Inch Bicycle with Chain Drive

Radio Flyer Classic Red 10-Inch Bicycle with Chain Drive

An Amazing First Bike!

I bought this bike for my 2 year old son who is *very* petite. He had tried all of the traditional bikes and trikes available in our local stores and his legs were too short to push the pedals. He LOVES this bike. He can pedal it with ease and at 2.5 is about ready to take the training wheels off. Two things that make this bike perfect for a new bike rider are the size (the pedal cranks are very short so the circle they have to pedal is short) and the lack of brakes. Now I wouldn't have even considered the lack of breaks a factor, until my son tried his new Redline BMX bike that my husband insisted on buying him. That bike has brakes and he can't pedal it because he doesn't understand pushing the pedals *forward* instead of just pushing the pedals period. I cannot say enough good things about the Radio Flyer Classic Bicycle. It is worth every penny. Sara

Great Design! Excellent Gift!

I purchased the Radio Flyer Classic Red 10-Inch Bicycle for a 3 year old foster child for Christmas this year. He was so happy to get it that he rode it all day Christmas day. He especially enjoyed the classic bell ringer. I received an email from his foster parents thanking me for making their son's wish come true. I shopped around until I found the best deal and I'm very satisfied with how quickly the item shipped.

Classic Design with "Sweat Shop" manufacturing

Let me start out by saying the bike has some timeless design: Wide seat, chrome fenders, "Albatross" bar, and a 'ring-ring' bell. If you subscribe to Rivendell, this is a dream bike. The red color is so stunning that you might want to admire it for a while.... except that you won't be able to breathe near by this bike for at least two weeks. When the bike has arrived at my front door, my plan to assemble it with my kid in the living room went out through the window, and soon I found myself in the garage with the door open, with my breathing apparatus I use for priming, ...and all by myself (because the first reaction from my three year old boy was "what's that smell, Daddy?"). It all starts and ends with the "tires." Well, the tires are solid block of rubber, and I like this feature because 1) the weight is not an issue at this stage, 2) no need to inflate the tires, and 3) they bring down the center of gravity quite a bit. However, there were two isues with these wheels: 1) they were not true and 2) ah, THE SMELL. First of all, I was neither planning nor delighted when I had to take out my truing stand and spoke ranch for 10" bike. And even after spending considerable time to true the wheels, the front one was still wobbly (this does slow down my boy a little, and I find that to be a good thing). As for the second issue, as with almost everything in life, only time will heal. The stench will eventually go away after 2~3 weeks. Put the fully assembled bike or, better yet, the wheels only out on your back yard. Keep your kid and other pets aways for a few weeks. If you have any mole/gopher problem, place the wheels near by fresh mounds, and they will surely move away to next county. Why did I keep the bike? Because my kid loves it. The bike is a "fixie," meaning the real wheel will stop, when your kid stop pedaling. When my boy "moved up" from his trike to this bike, he was having so much fun for the fact that it was behaving exactly like his old trike: he can go forward and back. This comes with a price: no brake. But this bike is so heavy (and wheels so out of alignment), your kid won't be going that fast anyway. As for stability, the bike will tip over occasionally just like any other 12" bikes; however, the bike's small size does minimize the fall. One more tip: Do spray chain lube or WD40 on the chain system. Your kid will thank you (maybe not, but it will avoid making your kid crank like a bike messenger, butt off the saddle). Timeless & winning design.... however, can't imagine what the factory would smell like making these bikes. Oh, btw, the stunning red color I have mentioned before? I have not lead-tested it yet... :)

Bought for a 2yr old!

Beautiful looking bike. Just the right size for my 3yr old son! Actually, all of my 3 kids have just loved it. My oldest is six and she can ride it as well. Only downfall is that it only lasted a year. The chain keeps coming off and it would be much more expensive to fix than to replace. My two year old has figured it out and I may buy another one for him this Christmas. PS...Of course it has no breaks! These bikes are only meant to train babies!!! Whoever leaves their two year olds unattended while riding is an unresponsible parent anyways!

Great toddler bike!

My 3 year old daughter loves her new bike! She had no difficulty learning to ride it and loves that she can go backwards as well as forwards. Not having a braking system is actually easier since most toddlers stop pedaling even though they still want to be moving. The others, with a back-pedal braking system are frustrating. This stops moving very quickly when she stops pedaling without an abrupt breaking. I attached a strap to the seat to be able to prevent her from riding faster than I could run to keep up or through the intersections and driveways. A strap also seems to help to pull the bike along when she no longer wishes to ride it the rest of the way home! None of the commercially available parent control bars I tried adequately fit this model of bicycle.

Cadillac Electric Blue CTS Road Bike

Cadillac Electric Blue CTS Road Bike

Another Keeper

Packing - small mark on bottom of rear derailleur adjacent to one hole in the box (packing protectors had migrated to the bottom of the box). There were no other dings or scratches on the frame. Assembly - straightforward with some notes: (1) In addition to the N.V.O stem system being different from normal threadless stem setups on other bikes, the CTS system requires two shim plates for the handlebar clamp (large stem clamp size - small handlebar diameter). It is a little awkward to hold & tighten everything. (2) The STI shifters have an intermediate shift (trimmer) on the front derailleur. This feature, normally found on higher end components, allows the front cage to move without shifting, eliminating chain rub (noise). Slightly different tweaking procedures apply (read the Shimano info). (3) When I tightened the attaching bolt on the brake pads, I ended up with toe-out. Unless I missed something, the caliper arms needed to be bent some to achieve the 1/64 in. toe-in on the pads. I've done this a lot on older bikes when they squeal, but I didn't expect a bunch of initial toe-out on the Tektro calipers. There's a tool for that, but I just removed the pads and "carefully" used a big adjustable wrench. (4) The first 3 test rides revealed a slightly noisy freewheel. It only happened in one gear, and I could easily eliminate the "clickity clock" by back pedaling momentarily or shifting, but I had a new duplicate freewheel. Replacement was easy, and the new one was quiet. (5) Finally, the wheels needed truing a couple of times, and I still had trouble eliminating all tire wiggle and blips. I ended up removing the tires & tubes, replacing the rubber rim strips with rim tape, putting tire talc in both tires, swapping tires (front tire on rear rim & vice versa), & lubing the beads with some liquid dish washing detergent /water to seat properly when inflated. On the last test ride I finally got rid of nearly all thumping. Appearance - This bike is beautiful blue! The welds are typical of a bike in this price range, but the graphics, paint & finish are quite good. The bar tape is "interesting". I'll stick with it for a while, but I have some blue & white marble tape somewhere. Fit - I'm half an inch shy of 6 ft. and 180 lbs. with a 31 in. stand over height. The 55cm CTS fits me perfectly. I thought it might be too small, but not so. Ride - smooth for an all aluminum bike with no carbon fiber. As I ride it with seat bag, tool kit, computer, cage/empty bottle and Wellgo double sided pedals (I installed those nice CTS pedals on a Schwinn hybrid), the CTS is not a feather weight at 24.4 lbs., but it's easy to pedal & cruise along at 12 - 14 mph, and all day for that matter. I had thoughts of maybe getting a different seat for it, but the included seat looks and feels just right. The STI group worked surprisingly well, and the only time I thought about having only 14 gears was when I had the CTS at 24 mph on a very slight downhill. I could have used one more higher gear. I can't comment on needing lower gears as there aren't any real hills where I ride (fortunately for this old fart). The brakes were more than adequate. Conclusion - I'm a happy camper. Slightly better brake pad attaching & wheels/tires with cassette would have eliminated almost all issues, but considering the price, it's still a pretty good deal on a nice looking and functional bicycle.

Razor Quick Spin 20-Inch Freestyle Bike

Razor Quick Spin 20-Inch Freestyle Bike

Company lacks customer service

The bicycle is okay for basic riding. The company, Kent International, is terrible to work with. As in another review, we had a problem with the bicycle, and still, 7 months later, have gotten no help from them. I would not buy another Kent International bike for their lack of customer service. They are not concerned with you after you buy the bicycle.

Razor Trick Bike

Had to have a bike shop put on the front wheel. Well made, good looks. My son has not ridden it yet due to the heat and rain in Florida this month.

Bike Great - Company So-So

The bike is wonderful - my son loves it! We are more frustrated with the company because we were missing 3 washers used to attach the trick posts (we rec'd one) and we are still waiting to get them. We've called 4x and just today were told that these parts weren't needed and that they did not have them in stock b/c the bike is new. We DO need these washers and feel the company should provide them. So the bike is GREAT but the company definitely needs some work with their customer service.

GMC Denali Girl's 24-Inch Road Bike

GMC Denali Girl's 24-Inch Road Bike

A great bike if you don't like to stop.

I bought this bike for my 9 year old daughter. Overall it is a good bike for $[...], however, there are 2 major design flaws I have found already. The braking system is RIDICULOUS for a child of 9-10; perhaps ok for an 11 or 12 year old, but a 9 year old does not have the finger strenght to operate the brakes from the top of the drops, and they can just barely reach the lever when they go down in the drops. Moving from the top riding position, grabbing the brakes and stopping quickly in an emergency is next to impossible and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS if your child hands are not big enough. The other minor flaw is that the handlebar has an adapter to fit the stem, which is cheesy. The correct size stem should have been used, but the manufacture cheaps out on this feature. I spent another $[...] to get the bike modified to a straight handlebar, correct stem, brake levers and other minor parts and labor so that it would be safe for my daughter to ride. The bike is much more appropriate if your child has larger hands, but without in-line brake levers added, I think its still a little dangerous. It is an attactive bike, and my daughter loved it, but unless your child is bigger, I would suggest spending $300 (cost of the bike + needed modifications) on an nice Trek kids bike.

Don't believe the other reviews - I did and regret it

I trusted all these reviews against my instinct to not buy a bike online and I regret it. Upon recieving this bike, I took it to a shop to be assembled and tuned up by a qualified technician. He called me later to tell me there was a serious defect in the manufacturing and to return it if I could. Now I'm having a hard time dealing with Amazon trying to get my partially assembled bike mailed back to them. It's not worth the incredible hassle I'm dealing with now, just buy a better bike. I guess you do get what you paid for. Overall, it's just not worth the disappointment, I promise.

Great Option for this age group

This was the only option we could find for our growing daughter that wasn't closer to a grand in price. As a family we tend to take off and ride our local rail trail for several miles, often riding to other nearby towns. Our daughter was doing up to 15 mile trips on her 20" that she outgrew. We really wanted a bike with lightweight wheels and tires for long rides. Her 20" that she outgrew was 7 speed, and therefore she was already comfortable shifting on hills. Also her natural cadence is much higher than her friends that learned on single speed bikes. There are at least 4 different 24" tire sizes that are not interchangeable. This size is the only one that has the option of using skinny road tires. However the tires that come on it are a medium width that's about perfect for our local rail trail made of packed gravel. It's nice knowing we have the option to use pavement tires if we want to. Our daughter actually didn't like the road handlebars, but everything else was good considering the price (not high end components, but serviceable). I switched the handlebars to an alloy straight bar ($10), and found Shimano 7x3 combined trigger shifters/brakes (another $35). The stock twist shifters will actually go on a straight bar, with the addition of simple brake levers. She now has the equivalent of a fitness bike, with geometry appropriate for her age, That rolls easily on lightweight wheels, that allows road tires if we want to add them, that allows shifting to go over hills... for very little money compared to the other options. But more importantly our daughter loves it.

Great bike

We got just what we wanted. My daughter really enjoys it. It came in good shape and was just as descibed.

I love my bike!

My husband and I have been runners, but wanted to start biking and did not want to spend a lot of money. He did some research and according to other people who had bought it, this was a very good bike for the money. I enjoy it immensely. Of course, it's not as light as the bikes that are over a thousand dollars, but it is fun to ride, shifts fairly smoothly, brakes well and feels good on the road. Definitely the bike to buy if you want to try cycling without the huge investment!

Tony Hawk Boom Boom Huckjam 20-Inch BMX Bike

Tony Hawk Boom Boom Huckjam 20-Inch BMX Bike

Pretty fun bike for an older guy

I've always wanted a BMX bike as a kid, but we were never able to afford one. Now that I'm too old for one, I decided to get one anyway for my short commute to campus. I ended up getting the Tony Hawk Boom Boom Huckjam 20-inch Silver BMX bike at KMart for $149.99. I have seen it on sale at KMart for $134.99. (On a side note, KMart has by far the worst customer service ever.) Here's a short review of the bike after riding it for about a month. The bike is a series of BMX and mountain bikes released under the Tony Hawk Huckjam name, although its not listed on the current list of bikes on the website. These bikes are built and distributed by Dynacraft. Since I bought this "as is" from KMart, I did not have to go through the assembly process. There are front and rear hand brakes and no coaster brakes (good). There were two main the reasons I wanted to get a BMX bike. One, they are usually much lighter than mountain bikes. This bike, although lighter than mountain bikes, is still heavier than typical BMX bikes. Even the included and removable four freestyle pegs are pretty heavy. According to Amazon, the shipping weight of the bike is 43.2 lbs, which makes the bike roughly 38 lbs or so. I had wanted a bike under 30 lbs. The second reason is my height. I am 58 and I feel most comfortable on a bike when my feet are flat on the ground while I'm seated on the bike. It's also safer when I can plant my feet quickly during quick stops and what not. A 20 BMX bike fits the bill. However, I had to raise the seat to its maximum height. I am using this bike purely for transportation and fun, and not for exercise, so I didn't want to spend too much money on it. I had wanted a bike closer to $100 bucks, but it was definitely difficult to find one I liked at that price. All the Mongoose ones that were priced cheaply were either of poor quality or too heavy. After searching for a while at Walmart, Target, Sports Authority, Dick's, Modell's and KMart, I couldn't stand it anymore and settled on this one. I was surprised that Amazon didn't sell that many BMX bikes. They had a silver Mongoose freestyle bike for $150 that I liked. I also wanted a dull inconspicous color since I did not want to draw attention to myself. The silver on this bike is more of a multi-silver, with different shinyness. I plan to sandpaper and spray paint the bike with a clear matte to dull the color. BMX bikes contain one gear. The gear on this one is roughly gear 5 on a 10-speed bike. It makes uphills difficult but doable for short distances less than 1/4 mile. Another advantage to one gear bikes is that the gears don't jut out to the right of the bike too far. This allows you to wear long pants and jeans without worrying about it catching on the gears. This bike also comes with a plastic gear protector anyways. Overall, I am pretty happy with this bike. It seems pretty well built. Although there appears to be a paint chip inside one of the aluminum bars, that makes a sliding noise when I have it stored in my car. While I ride the bike, there is no sound. The seat of the bike is also pretty comfy. I remember riding BMX bikes as a kid and they seemed hard, narrow and uncomfortable. I am sure I would've been happy with a Mongoose at this price also. But I got this one and I'm happy with it.

Lamborghini Rapido Road Bike

Lamborghini Rapido Road Bike

rather cheap

I bought this bike because I had planned on commuting back and forth to school. I was pretty impressed with it out of the box as it looked great and seemed well put together. The pros: it handles well and feels light when you are riding it. Feels very sturdy. I have gotten so many comments from people when I ride this bike, no one has seen a lamborghini bike at this point and it always gets peoples' attention. There is a cool gear protector that keeps your pants from getting caught in the sprockets. Nice touch. It comes 99% assembled which rules. The cons: shifting sucks. I immediately noticed that the gears would slip which sucks when standing up as I would be jarred into a different gear. This is especially a problem when in lowest gear as the chain slips right off the sprocket and gets wedged between the sprocket and the frame. Then I would have to stop and pull off the road and yank it out with my bare hands and place it back onto the chain. But what is worse, and the reason why I am writing this review, it because I took a minor spill on pavement today and the front fork snapped completely in half. I was not going fast and just slipped on a turn and the front went down. I think this is pretty poor considering that I have taken spills on all kinds of bikes, even Huffys, and the bike has always held up. One fall on this bike and the repair is going to cost almost as much as the bike, so I am putting it in the basement and getting a Trek. My advice is stay away from this bike if you are a regular commuter. If you want a road bike to get started in the sport this is probably good for you but don't rely on it as your main mode of transportation.

GREAT for new road-bikers.

I purchased this bike because I wanted to get into road cycling, and I was very pleased with it. For the money, I can't imagine getting a better road bike. Not only is it nice-looking, but it also is incredibly sturdy. It's a little heavy for a road bike, but for the price, I really can't complain. One thing that I'm still having trouble with is the gears - I'm definitely seeing the low price come into effect when I'm trying to switch gears. But those can easily be replaced. By the way, others who have reviewed this bike have mentioned that their feet touch the front tire upon turning...THEY HAVE THE FRONT FRAME ON BACKWARDS! There is nothing wrong with this bike frame. I highly recommend it to beginners.

My first road bike...

This is my first road bike so if my few complaints are normal for a road bike please just write me off as a noob but these are things I never had a problem with with any mountain bike. The first thing I noticed is when I turn the pedal hits the front tire and my feet hit the tire also. Kinda a pain but I just don't pedal when I turn now. I had to put the front brake on the front end of the frame instead of being behind the front part of the frame cause it wouldn't turn to far to the right since the brake had a part of it that would hit the frame. But once I turned it it wasn't much of a problem. The back tire can't hold air. I had to buy one today so I could ride it. Those are the problems I ran into but once I fixed them all I have had no real problems. (pedal hitting the front tire is kinda getting on my nerves though but....) The good on the other hand are several things! It is pretty light but then again I have been a mountain biker so I am not 100% sure what is light for a road bike, but I would wager a guess at this price it is still pretty light. It was real easy to put together (except for the few things already mentioned above) and this baby can get some good speed! Overall this thing was a great buy! Oh and one more thing I noticed yesterday... and this is kinda sad and to be honest I wouldn't have bought this if I would have known this prior to the purchase. Although it has the Lamborghini name this thing isn't from Italy it was made in China. As the sticker on the bike says: "Kent International Service Hotline 1-800-451-5368 Made In China"

SWEET BIKE

The first thing I noticed was how light the bike is, I didnt expect it to be so light but it was a nice suprise. This is a good beginners road bike because of the low price, if you go into a retail bike store you wont get out of there for less than 5 or 6 hundred dollars for a beginners road bike. Rapido says it all this is a fast bike, and after doing some research on the bike I found many courriers use this bike in their daily tasks around the city.

Transformer Bumble Bee 16-Inch Kids' Bike

Transformer Bumble Bee 16-Inch Kids' Bike

Trnasformer Bumble Bee Bike

I bought this bike for my six years old. Really a nice bike. Only problem shipment had a faulty nut. I have contacted manufacturer and they promised a replacement part.

Low Quality

The plastic Mag wheels are warped. The tire would not stay on the front wheel due to this. A couple of the other plastic pieces arrived broken. The general fit and finish is very poor. The decorative "Bumblebee" stickers are applied at the factory. They were badly misaligned and some of them had apparently ripped when being applied but they put them on anyway. Bad quality control.

Front wheel bent

Front wheel was bent and misaligned out of the box. The "mag" wheel is just plastic and unlike spoke wheels of a regular bike is non-adjustable. Called the company who said they would replace in a couple of weeks. One month later I'm still waiting. My son likes his bike, although his wheel drags on the front brake calipers due to the bent wheel. Luckily his speed is low and not critical as he wobbles down the road. Rear wheel is fine and true, so I'm a little hopeful as I continue to wait for replacement.

Transformer Bumblebee Bike

Transformer Bumble Bee 16-Inch Bike MY son loves his new bike! Great quality. Fast shipping, and one of a kind! We couldn't find this bike in any stores. It seems to be solidly built, and is nicely painted etc.

It made his Christmas

What an adorable little bike. It arrived on time as promised. The packaging was perfect, no damaged parts, no missing pieces. My grandson was very happy with the bike that "Santa" brought him. I am so happy that Amazon had the bike in stock...I wasn't able to find it anywhere and it was free shipping on top of a great price. It was a very pleasant on-line shopping experience.

Lamborghini Classica Road Bike

Lamborghini Classica Road Bike

first road bike

this bike is what i wanted ,right out of the box flashy and fast ! had it going in 30 min

Lamborghini Classica Road Bike (25-Inch Frame)

Great bike, I am 6.1" and the 25 inch frame is perfect for me... I went to several bike stores and I could not find a bike like this for this price. The shifter is very very smooth... In addition I can say that I have a Lamborghini in my garage. I cannot believe the price on this bike.

Very Good Choice for the Price

Overall, I think this is a very good bike for $400. I'm torn about whether to rate it a 4 or a 5, but I decided on a 4 because it's not perfect. Background: I was in the market for a solid road bike under $500 to use to commute to work, and I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for in bike shops around town. I came across the Tonino Lamborghini Classica on Amazon and realized it was exactly the type of bike I wanted. After reading the generally positive reviews, I rationalized the online purchase. Pros: - Brushed aluminum, black, and red combination looks great - Smooth, relatively comfortable ride - Solid components (derailleur took some tweaking to make it shift smoothly, but it's doing well now) - Free shipping; I received it in 2 days Cons: - Assembling the bike and tweaking the components took several hours. Although not impossible for a novice, you may want to take it to a bike shop to ensure you correctly adjust derailleurs, brakes, and wheel alignment - Manual is more generic than it should be; it would help if it were written specifically for this bike - The cage pedals seem cheap; I find that the nylon strap comes detached from the pedal too easily. Overall: I definitely recommend this bike for novice to intermediate riders who don't see the point in spending $1500 for a bicycle.

Decent dollar value

Excellent two day free delivery. No missing or damaged components. Swift, smooth and silent machine. Strong frame, wheels and tyres. My LBS claims the STI shifters are above standard. Great for track and touring. Very comfortable seat. This is the best I could find in this price range. Get a lot of compliments and inquiries about it. I have been riding it for over two weeks on rough NYC roads and pavements and have had no issues so far. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Road Bike

I purchased this bike for my husband for his birthday. He has been wanting a road bike because he wants to get more involved with the Pan Mass Challenge. I was skeptical about buying on line a bike that you can not actually touch, but when it arrived and I was able to see the way this bike was built I was amazed. My husband has had many compliments regarding the Lamborghini Classica Road Bike. I encourage all bikers to check out this bike. You will be happy with it.

Razor Fz 2000 20-Inch Freestyle Bike

Razor Fz 2000 20-Inch Freestyle Bike

Simple stuff

Comes partially or should I say mostly assembled and it took under 1 hour to put all in place for my 10 yr old boy to have fun.

Razor BMX Bike

We saw this bike online and my son fell in love with it. We ordered the item, and it arrived with torn outer packaging and no packing material around the bike and the bike had clearly sustained damage. We returned the bike with ease. We ordered another bike thinking the packaging on the first one was just a fluke, but once again, the bike came with the box torn and this new bike was also damaged. I would not recommend purchasing this product over the internet.

Very Pleased...

I bought this as a christmas present for my 10 year old son...he absolutely loved it since day one. Two minor details is that the kick stand indeed keeps coming loose so we decided to take it off. Also the brakes are quite a pain to adjust so we took the front brakes off as well. It is pretty sturdy and has good looks, even the thief that stole it,loved it....apparently.

perfect

this is exactly what my boys wanted!! the bike looks better in person then it does in a picture!!. Thanks

Solid and sturdy

My son loved his bike. This thing is built great and looks great also. The price was good and when you consider the free shipping I felt that this was a really good deal.
